I am Vahid Sohrabifar, PhD, an Associate Professor of Philosophy of Religion and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Religions and Denominations (URD). My work focuses on the philosophy of religion, spirituality, interfaith dialogue, modernity, and especially the meaning of life and the problem of absurdity in contemporary human existence.

My research explores how religious and philosophical traditions can help people respond to existential uncertainty, suffering, and the search for purpose. I am particularly interested in the relationship between faith, spirituality, and meaningful living, as well as the ways in which religious traditions address the tension between hope and absurdity.

My academic experience is international and interdisciplinary. In 2024, I conducted postdoctoral research in Comparative Theology at the University of Bonn, Germany, with a project on the pursuit of meaning in Christian-Muslim scriptures. I have also taught Shi’a Studies at the University of Paderborn, Germany, and participated in international interfaith dialogue programs in Geneva, including a World Council of Churches initiative involving Jews, Christians, and Muslims. In addition, I was invited as a research fellow in the Faith Project in the United States, supported by the Templeton Foundation.

Alongside my teaching and research, I have held several academic leadership roles at URD and have been active in national and international scholarly associations. My publications address topics such as meaning of life, absurdity, modernity, spirituality, comparative theology, and religious diversity.

I see scholarship not only as an academic pursuit, but also as a way of engaging the deepest questions of human life with clarity, seriousness, and hope.
